The Governing Council of the Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU), led by its Chairman, Professor
Francis Abantanga, on Thursday, July 18, 2024, held its maiden meeting with staff of the University.
The main aim of the meeting was to create the platform for the Governing Council Members to interact
with the staff made up of academic and non-academic to know the challenges confronting the University
and the staff as whole and to brainstorm to address the challenges.
Opening the meeting, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Samuel Erasmus Alnaa, stressed
that such engagement is very crucial for the University’s development and urged the staff to make
significant contribution during the engagement.
The Council Chairman in his remarks, indicated that the Council and Management of the University, had
worked so hard and noted that such efforts culminated into the school being converted from a Polytechnic to a University.
He noted that although the University since its conversion is four years old, it has chalked a lot of
successes including developing new Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor of Technology (BTEC)
and Master programmes.
He entreated the staff of the University to sacrifice by working hard to help promote the growth of the
University and gave the assurance that Council is working hard to engage development partners to support the University expand its infrastructure base.
The occasion afforded the stakeholders the opportunities to make series of input and also voice out the
challenges confronting them and the University.
In responds, the Vice Chancellor, took turns to address some of the issues and promised that some of the
challenges will be addressed.
Prior to the meeting with the staff, the Council members held similar meeting with the entire student body and interacted with them to know their challenges and to help address them.
At that said meeting, the President of the Students Representative Council, Abdulai Anabila Seidu,
thanked the Council for such meeting and entreated Council to make it an annual event.
Council members at the maiden meeting included the Chairman Prof Francis Abantanga, Prof.(Mrs.)
Alfredina Z.P. Kuupole, Naa Prof. Daniel Anleu-Mwine Bagah, Mr. Freeman Aabramani, Madam Phyllis
Nana Efua-Andoh, Mr. Bukari Abdulai among others.
