The Governing Council is the highest decision-making authority of the University. It among others ensures the attainment of the aims of the University; determines the strategic direction of the University, finances and properties of the University and the allocation and proper use of funds. It also fosters linkages and collaborations with relevant national and international industries and institutions in furtherance of the mission of the University, including discipline in the University. The conferment of academic titles; the entering into contracts including their carriage or variations; the annual determination of financial and human resources including investments; and the overseeing of the internal organization of the University; including delegating authority to officers of the University are all powers and functions of the Council as provided by the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922) .
