Dr. Martin Awe Akilla is a Consultant Chemical Pathologist and Medical Research Scientist who believes that developing a healthy society should be the first priority Medical Research Scientist. He specializes in Chemical Pathology (Reproductive Health and Metabolic disorders), and has expertise in Molecular Biology, Haematology, Laboratory management as well including setting-up Medical Laboratories and developing Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs). He has over 20 years of working experiences in both private and Government health facilities (Ministry of Health) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist and is duly registered with the Allied Health Professions council, Ghana as licensed professional.
Dr Akilla holds Medical Laboratory Science degrees (BSc, MPhil) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana and a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science degree from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana. Upon completion he was awarded the best graduating Student in Pharmacology for 2014-2016 Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science Class from the Department of Biomedical Science, University for Development Studies, Tamale. Dr Akilla s a fellow of the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientist (GAMLS) and a Foundation Fellow of the West African Post Graduate College of Medical Laboratory Science (WAPCMLS) and a faculty Member, Clinical Chemistry. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Chemical Pathology (PhD Candidate) with the University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana.
Dr Akilla love for research has already propelled him to publish in the American Journal of Laboratory Medicine, PLoS ONE, Trends in Medical Research among others.
